Google is to open up its global computer network to help your web surfing faster. It works like other web acceleration software by prefetching contents, but routes browser activity through Google machines to make Web pages load faster. Google will only refresh a Web page when it has been updated, saving the user from reloading content when unnecessary.
However, it is designed for broadband as prefetching does not really work for dial up user. The supported browser for this beta release are IE 5.5+ or Firefox 1.0+.

There has been comments on Google Web Accelerator (GWA) as a spyware, which is somewhat true. See comments and more links at Google â The Coming Out of a Datascraper Spook.
There is posting on how to block GWA as well at Blocking Google Web Accelerator.
Personally I've a few problem with the GWA, where it keeps complaining of unknown domain, where several refresh of browser are required.
